I met Dave after the show and had a nice little conversation. He was very nice and very charming. He even offered to take me to Joe Franklin’s office if I am ever in New York. (I’d better hurry, Joe is, like, 101 years old.)
This was a treat for me, because I’ve been a fan of Dave’s online work for the past few years. So it was nice to see him live and say hello.
Congrats to Gregg Gethard (host of BEDTIME STORIES) on getting Dave to come down. Gregg has some good NY comedy connections. Can’t wait to see who’s next…

Dave Hill was absolutely fantastic. I learned SO much from watching him perform. Whenever I do stuff, I’m absolutely mortified when what I’m doing isn’t getting a reaction and there’s no noise on stage. Dave embraces that and had the crowd eating out of his hand the entire time. It really hit home to me that being quiet on stage is just as important as saying stuff. It’s really easy (especially for me) to think “I”m not getting a reaction, time for me to be manic and zany!” when staying true to your material and allowing bits to flow naturally works incredibly well.
A bunch of us hung out with Dave after the show at Mom’s. He’s a totally nice guy all around and has some absolutely amazing stories.
As far as other New York folks coming down… I have no one so far.
