I might agree on Michael Showalter’s stand-up, his album is kind of hit-or-miss. But Michael Ian Black’s material is pretty good. I liked I Am A Wonderful Man a lot. Especially when you consider he hasn’t done stand-up before.
Although STELLA could be called pseudo-standup (if I knew the correct usage of “pseudo”)
Still, I have to admit it’s kind of cool that the Mikes are trying something new; they have the opportunity and the desire, why not try it?
